Common Questions
Feeling comfortable starts with knowing what to expect. Here are the answers to the questions we hear most often at the studio.
First Time Visits
This is completely normal. We recommend booking a standard "Therapeutic Massage." Monja customizes every single session, so if you book a massage but we decide you need Neuromuscular work or Kinesiology, we can shift gears seamlessly.
It depends on the service:
- Table Massage: You may undress to your comfort level. You will be fully draped with a sheet and blanket at all times, with only the area being worked on exposed.
- Kinesiology & Chair Massage: You remain fully clothed. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing (like gym wear) to allow for easy movement.
For your first visit, please arrive 5-10 minutes early to fill out a brief health intake form. This form is crucial as it helps us understand your history and ensures your safety during treatment. For returning clients, arriving right at your appointment time is perfect.
We have ample street parking available directly in front of the building on Main Street, as well as side street parking on Washington Street near our West Entrance.
Our studio is located on the ground floor. If you have specific mobility concerns or require assistance entering the building, please let us know when booking so we can ensure easy access for you.
Booking & Payment
We do not bill insurance companies directly. However, we are happy to provide you with a detailed receipt (often called a "Superbill") that you can submit to your provider for reimbursement. We do accept HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) cards.
We respectfully request at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. This allows us to offer the appointment time to another client who may need care. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.
While online booking via MassageBook is the fastest way to see availability and secure your spot, you are welcome to call us at (620) 203-1510. If we are in session, please leave a voicemail and we will return your call as soon as possible.
Gratuity is never expected but always appreciated. If you feel you received excellent service, a standard tip is generally 15-20%, but the best tip you can give is referring a friend or leaving a review!
Yes! Gift certificates are available for purchase online or in the studio. They make wonderful gifts for birthdays, holidays, or simply to help a loved one relax.
About the Services
Energy Kinesiology is a method of "talking" to the body using muscle monitoring (bio-feedback). It allows us to identify where your body is holding stress—whether that is physical, emotional, or energetic. By clearing these blocks, we help your body return to its natural state of balance. It is gentle, non-invasive, and does not involve needles or medication.
RESET is a gentle system that relaxes the jaw muscles to reset the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ). The jaw influences the body's hydration, structure, and neurology. By balancing the jaw, we often see relief in neck pain, headaches, and even lower back issues.
Therapeutic Massage focuses on general relaxation, stress reduction, and working out common tension knots. Medical Massage is outcome-based, focusing on specific injuries, chronic conditions (like Sciatica or Whiplash), or post-surgical recovery, often involving more targeted techniques.
The Experience
Massage should never be painful in a "bad" way. You might experience "therapeutic discomfort" (that "good hurt" feeling) when we work on tight knots, but you should always be able to breathe through it. Monja checks in frequently to ensure the pressure is perfect for you.
Absolutely not. This is your time. Some clients find it helpful to talk and process emotions, while others prefer to drift off into a quiet state of rest. We will follow your lead. If you prefer quiet, we will honor that space.
Most clients feel relaxed, lighter, and have increased range of motion immediately after a session. It is also normal to feel a bit tired or experience mild soreness (similar to a post-workout feeling) the next day as your muscles adjust. We recommend drinking plenty of water to help your body process the work.
